Peter Dolbear
Peter came to Wiltshire in 1987 to live in Bratton near Westbury.
He was born in Plymouth and previously lived and worked in the far west of Cornwall and loves the open spaces of countryside and coast. He is very much an outdoor painter and enjoys the medium of watercolour for the spontaneity of application enabling him to capture quickly the essence of light and atmosphere. He feels that in his painting he wishes to respond to the emotion and feelings conveyed by the scene and trys to achieve this within his work.
Peter senses he is becoming closer to nature and its moods and this relationship is becoming stronger in his paintings.
Today his paintings, many of them depicting the Wylye Valley, forms part of his personal diary of the seasons and for him are a solid reminder of time and place.
Peter runs watercolour workshops at the Old Mill Gallery - e-mail us for details.
